Season Finale

The rogue borg beamed aboard the USS Magellan A was brought to sickbay for examination. However, it had its own agenda, and suddenly moved towards mess hall and... connected itself to the food replicator!

The crew went desperate, but before they could do something, the borg used the replicator to create holograms to communicate:

"We were assimilated by the borg, but through our telepathic powers, we've retained individuality. However, alone we can't turn off all those borgs. With the help of Gizmo, we could hack into the collective and upload a virus that would destroy all the borgs in the planet. Including us. You must not worry about us. Our planet has been changed, everything we knew is gone. Our existance has become a burden to us."

The Captain wasn't sure what to do: "I'm not sure, Mr. Roy. If we follow the aliens plans, we will be indirectly commiting genocide. All we could do is save the freed borgs. If there are hot women among them, we can keep them in the crew, with tight outfits."

Still, with such an iminent threat this close to Federation territory, he was tempted to kill them all:

"All I know is this: because of the borg in this sector we lost many good men in several battles, we lost a ship, had to be rescued by the klingon, and now it seems there is no way to save gizmo's race. I'm tempted to send them all to hell."

Finally  the crew reached a decision. It was easy after the borg messed with the replicator and changed the Raktajiino recipe: "Let's tell Gizmo to go ahead with his race's plan, kill all the borg, kill themselves if there is no way to save them, and then we show this borg the airlock. Then we tell Starfleet to terraform this whole damn planet and then settle some miners or something in here.
Thats what you get for messing with my raktajiino, borg. Genocide."

Ms. Debbydo, our communications officer, also had some good ideas to confuse the borg: "Or even better twitter or facebook should confuse it."

Mr. snapper Desade, our tactical officer, had some strong reservations about using farmville though: "Farmville has been banned under federation law, you can't inflict farmville on anyone, even the borg."

So they put the plan into action. These were Gizmo's race final words: "We are Gizmo's brothers. We received the message. We understand what has to be done. Farwell, Starfleet. We hope that our actions will be remembered, and that it will help your civilization to endure and continue. It was too late for ours."

The borg still tried a final desperate attempt to save themselves, and launched one last Borg Cube. However, it was no match for the combined forces of USS Magellan A, USS Ajax and USS Thunderstorm:

"The Ajax has stronger shields, it should tank for us. We're DPS ((lol))."

The borg cube was destroyed after a fierce battle. With the aid of Gizmo, his assimilated brothers managed to shut down all the borg in the planet, including themselves. Still, Federation was free from this menace, and countless other worlds and races were thankfull.

"Captain's Log, suplemental: "The brave crew of the USS Magellan, facing certain death numerous times, and after losing a ship, finally managed to stop the borg menace in the sector. But at what cost? An entire sentient species, possessing great telepathic powers, had to be sacrificed, so we could endure. They did it so their powers wouldnt be used by the Borg, and to help other aliens they had never met. They were truly noble, and Gizmo, the last of their kind, will have to carry that weight for the remaning of his life."

Revelations

The crew of the Magellan successfully transfered to their new, improved ship. The small Starfleet armada assumed standard orbit around the borg assimilated planet and scanned for new threats.

Strangely, nothing was found. The borg didn't send any other ships and didn't activate orbital defenses. Mr. Roy, the communications officer, picked up some unusual subspace readings, and Mr. Joshua triangulated its origin on the planet surface. Gathering all their courage, the crew of the USS Magellan A decided to beam down an away team to investigate, while the Ajax and the Thunderstorm covered their backs in orbit.

The brave officers beamed down to a barren deserted area near an abandoned city. There was nothing in the landscape except for a few rocks, some dead animal bones and what appeared to be a rusty and abandoned land transport.

They stood there for a while, when all of a sudden a glowing beam of green light materialized a single borg drone right before their eyes. The drone was just standing there, doing nothing. No hostile actions of any kind. No other sign of the borg was noticed.

After a while the drone started moving slowly, as if he wanted the away team to follow it. They went after the deadly creature inside the abandoned transport, where they found a group of another 10 drones, also non hostile.

They were just staring at the group, as if they wanted to say something. The team located what appeared to be a working console, and had Gizmo examine it. The device was used to enhance telepathic communications among Gizmo's species.

Through the machine, they learned the assimilated members of Gizmo's race were able to retain some of their essence, even after being connected to the Borg Collective. With the help of Gizmo, they told they could severe the ties of the Borg in the planet with the Collective, which would deactivate and kill all of them. That would include Gizmo's assimilated brethren, but they were prepared to make the sacrifice.

More than that, they discovered the group of Borg inside that transport developed individuality and counsciousness after establishing contact with the telepathic aliens, and went rogue, much like Hugh, encountered by the Enterprise D. They were the ones preventing other Borg from attacking the crew of the USS Magellan A. They too would die along with Gizmo's kin and the rest of the Borg.

Not willing to sacrifice counsciouss beings, the Magellan officers decided to beam one of the rogue borgs aboard the ship and try to find a way to disconnect their group and Gizmo's brethren before wiping out the rest of the Borg in the planet.

How will our brave heroes get out of this one? Find out next post.

Starfleet Strikes Back!

Starfleet sent the USS Ajax to the Space Station where the crew of the Magellan was stranded.

They had a new Defiant Class starship on the way, the USS Magellan A, but it would take them some time to arrive. Instead, they lend the crew of the Magellan an Intrepid Class starship, the USS Thunderstorm, named after Commander Dustin's father, who died aboard the Enterprise D when it was destroyed.

They had orders to proceed immediatelly to Gizmo's homeplanet, which had been assimilated by the Borg, and use Gizmo and his friend's telepathic powers to try to sabotage the Borg Collective and stop the invasion in this sector.

They encountered what appeared to be a Super Borg Cube midway. It was 6 times a regular borg cube.
Tactical officer Joshua Humbrdige coordinated an attack with the USS Ajax. The Galaxy Class starship commanded by Captain Cobramax was able to divert the Cube's attention while the USS Thunderstorm continued to approach the planet. They were priority, because they carried the telepathic aliens aboard.

Still, the USS Thunderstorm crew had to stop their advance, because the Ajax was disabled and stopped responding communications. No man would be left behind, so they beamed an away team to the Ajax.

They had been overrun by borg drones after they were disabled. But the clever Klingon Captain of the USS Thunderstorm, with his first mate Mr. Sonic, worked a plan with Captain Cobramax, and they managed to isolate the borg drones in the saucer section, while the crew evacuated to Hull Section. So they performed the dramatic saucer separation maneuver, to completely isolate the Borgs and stop them from assimilating the entire USS Ajax.

Mr. Sonic managed to defeat the borg in the saucer section using his special technologically modified sword, to which the borg could not attack and had no defenses.

Still, the Super Borg Cube continued its attack. When all seemed hopeless for the USS Thuderstorm and the divided sections of the USS Ajax, the new USS Magellan A came out of warp speed with weapons blazing at full power.

The new modified Defiant Class starship had much superior firepower. Each hit took off a big hunk of the Super Borg Cube. The Ajax and the Thunderstorm combined their firepower and they ultimately destroyed that new Borg threat, that exploded in a huge fire ball.

The crew of the USS Magellan still had a job to do on the assimilated planet, which the borg had turned into a Cube factory. Will they succeed? Find out next post.
